Research Opportunities

The EDGE lab is committed to training the next generation of scientists.

Undergraduate Opportunities:

Are you a VCU student interested in research?  Great!  Whether you’re majoring in creative writing, biology, marketing or anything in between, we would love to have you and your particular talents on our team!

  • The EDGE Lab offers a limited number of research assistant or internship opportunities each semester
  • We also offer an undergraduate research class open to all undergraduates as well as a summer research training program for VCU undergraduates of groups traditionally underrepresented in the behavioral/biomedical sciences.
  • For general information about undergraduate research opportunities at VCU, as well as advice on all aspects of the process, you can visit the Provost Office's website.

For additional information about any of these volunteer or research opportunities, please contact Dr. Amy Adkins at adkinsae@vcu.edu.

Graduate Training:

Reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the lab, EDGE faculty work with graduate students from a variety of departments. Dr. Danielle Dick has a primary appointment in the Developmental Psychology graduate program, and preferentially accepts Psychology students through that track, though occasionally students from other Psychology programs (e.g., Clinical, Social, Health) have EDGE faculty as primary mentors. Secondary mentorship with EDGE faculty from these other programs is possible (with the primary mentor being a core faculty member in the program). EDGE faculty also accept students through the Human and Molecular Genetics Department. If you are interested in learning more about graduate opportunities in the EDGE lab, please contact Dr. Dick.

Postdoctoral Opportunities:

If you are interested in postdoctoral training opportunities in the EDGE lab, please contact Dr. Danielle Dick (ddick@vcu.edu).
